Somalia’s Presidential Residence Attacked by Armed men

Armed men more than five attacked security forces positioned outside the presidential palace, a Somali police officer says.

Capt. Mohamed Hussein told The Associated Press, saying security forces repelled the assault and killed at least three of the attackers while gunfire could be heard in the area nearby.

He further states that, two of the attackers have moved to positions at the nearby parking lot of the SYL hotel amid gunfire. They’ve not managed to penetrate the hotel compound and gunfight is still going on.

Somali security forces shot and killed five al-Shabab attackers after an attack that left at least three civilians and two soldiers dead in a hotel near the presidential palace in Mogadishu, Al Jazeera News Agency reports.

The presidential palace is the seat of government and many top government officials live and work there.
