DR Congo: 19 people killed in a New Rebel Attack in Beni

The rebel attack happened overnight, killing 19 people. More than 1,500 people in and around Beni in the past four years.

Death of Nineteen people has been recorded in a fresh attack by the Uganda-based Allied Democratic Forces rebels in Oicha. The town of the incident is about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from Beni.

The administrator of Beni territory, Donat Kibwana, stated that many family members of the victims were afraid to return to the scene for fear of being attacked.

Yesterday, demonstrators in the city of Goma blocked the main road leading to the Beni further south where the first protests against the UN mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) broke out on Sunday, Aljazeera reports.
