Malawi: Oppositions are Challenging May 21 Election in Court for nullification and malpractices

In the elections case, Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi Congress Party and Saulos Chilima of UTM are challenging the results of the May 21 elections in which MEC declared Mutharika as the winner.

Yesterday, the Constitutional Court announced it plans to conclude hearing of the presidential elections case by 6 December.

The hearing is manage by a judge but the commissioners are political appointees from various parties. Like most of Malawi’s institutions, it is under-resourced, political analyst said.
