Nigeria Sign Agreement on Electricity Generation with Siemens

In 2018 when German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Nigeria, she and President Buhari talk about the opportunities on how to strengthen Nigeria populations and energy was top on their agenda of what they discussed and the outcome of the discussion was the signing of Electricity Road Map agreement between the Federal Government of Nigeria and German-based Siemens on Monday.

This is a welcome development, Siemens and its consortium partners, Orascom Construction and Elsewedy Electric completed the Egypt mega project in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy last year, which add a total of 14.4 gigawatts (GW) of power generation capacity to Egypt’s national grid, enough power to supply up to 40 million people with reliable electricity, with the project, Egypt and Siemens set a new world record for execution of modern, fast-track power projects, delivering 14.4 GW of power in only 27.5 months.

The Egypt megaproject, Siemens was successfully energized six substations that will transmit electricity generated by the new power plants, also provided training to 600 Egyptian engineers and technicians, to operate and maintain the new power plants.

If all hands on deck, Siemens will success in Nigeria.
