Gateman relieved his community from the suffering of acute water shortage.

Musa Usman works as a gateman for Mr V. Verghese, MD of Jawa International Limited, a pharmaceutical company based in Lagos and after serving Mr V. Verghese for 25 years Usman decided to return to his village, Giljimmi, a Fulani settlement in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, where his family lives in a thatched house.

Usman was very diligent and thorough in his work as a gateman to Mr. V. Verghese and when he was leaving, Mr. V. Verghese decided to build a house for him in appreciation of his diligent service, but Usman rejected the parting gift and instead requested for a borehole to be constructed for his community, Giljimmi.

The people of Giljimmi had to trek a long distance to fetch drinking water and now they are relieved from the anguish of not only the long trek but also of drinking unclean water, in which Usman thanked Mr. Verghese for the kind gesture and said he had no regret rejecting the house offer.

From Stanley UDEDI, the Dean of Students’ Affairs at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who electrifies his community, Ugwu-Isiokwe in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State to Musa Usman, a gateman, who relieved his community from the suffering of acute water shortage, this is the way to have empathy towards others so that we may make Nigeria a better country.
